WHY CHECKONMENOW EXISTS

A  message from the founder

CheckOnMeNow began with a simple and troubling question: What happens when something goes wrong and no one knows?

Some years ago I experienced the loss of a friend who died alone and was not discovered for four days. Years later, while caring for my wife, who was struggling with dementia, that question became deeply personal.

What would happen to her if something happened to me?

The technology to answer that question was already sitting in my pocket.

Our phones know when we move. They can detect falls and sudden impacts. They know where we are. They can make calls and send notifications. We use technology every day to keep  track of packages, vehicles and countless other things. Why couldn't we use the phone we already carry to help protect the people we love?

That question became CheckOnMeNow.

It was created to provide a simple, automatic safety check for people living alone, elderly parents, people with disabilities, caregivers, lone workers, hikers, travelers, and anyone else who might someday be unable to call for help themselves.

If they are not moving around, and they should be, we are on it. If they fall or have an accident, we are on it.
